Zlota 44
Dear Associates of Orco Property Group,
As you may be aware, Orco began construction in 2008 on a project called Zlota 44, a luxury high-rise apartment tower in downtown Warsaw, Poland designed by world-renowned architect Daniel Libeskind.
In 2006 we received a zoning permit and a year later, the construction permit. Work began on the building in 2008 and 17 floors were completed before a group of neighbours began filing complaints against both the zoning approval and the construction permit. After the Governor of the Masovian Province rejected the complaints, the group filed an appeal to the Provincial Administrative Court who declared the construction permit void in July 2009, thus bringing the project to a standstill.
The case has now gone all the way to the Supreme Administrative Court. On March 15 2010, it was ruled that the zoning approval was legal, thus preventing further appeals. On June 24, the Court will make their decision on whether or not the construction permit will be reinstated and we need your support to help influence this decision and get construction back on track!
Warsaw will be one of the host cities of the UEFA European Football Championship, EURO 2012, a tournament that is broadcasted in over 200 territories around the world and visited by over 1.4 million fans. If the Court rules for Orco to restart construction, we will commit to completing Zlota 44 in time for Warsaw’s big moment on the global stage during EURO 2012. Otherwise, visitors to downtown Warsaw will be greeted by an unfinished 17-storey concrete structure.
Zlota 44 will be a new, innovative addition to the landscape of Warsaw, one that will help boost the local economy and help define the city’s image as a modern, open and friendly place for tourists and investors.
